How to order the Wise card from Argentina

May 20, 2023

Well, it used to be said that the easiest way to request the WISE card is to change the address in EUROPE to that of a friend who lives there and that's it. Wise, if you have an address in Argentina it does not allow you to request the card, however if you are in Europe it does.

But why would you want the WISE card?

First and foremost, it makes it easier for us to exit Wise to Cryptocurrencies without breaking the Wise TOS. From Wise, we cannot do P2P for crypto (I do not recommend ever doing that anyway), and we cannot transfer to applications like Binance either. On the other hand, with the card it is allowed to buy crypto, so we can directly, if we wanted BTC, go to binance and buy with the WISE card.

Second, but not least, the card is extremely useful for travel. I don't know about you but for me traveling is almost the best thing I can do. I love traveling, and having a card that works everywhere, that allows you to have balances in different currencies and works in all ATMs is very good. Unlike Payoneer, there is no need to have separate cards for separate balances.

Suppose we charge in USD to a USA account, and a trip to Europe is coming up. Instead of using the debit card of our US bank and having to pay currency conversion fees, we can deposit money through ACH to wise, convert those dollars to euros within the APP and spend in euros like a local. The conversion that Wise makes is a thousand times better than those at exchange houses (which we would use if we were carrying cash) and it is also more convenient. If we need cash we can go to an ATM and withdraw up to 900 euros per day, although the kite is a bit salty.

How to order it without having a friend in Europe. (without screwing anyone)

Time: approx 20 days

Cost: approx 60-70 USD

1. First open an account at tiptrans.com (referal). This will give us an address in Germany (Generally it does not ask for proof of address).

2. Enter Wise and change our Wise address to Tiptrans. Important, add Tiptrans somewhere in the address.

3. Once the address has been changed, the “cards” TAB will be enabled in wise, where we can request it to our address.

4. Wait for the card to arrive. Once it arrives at tiptrans, they send you an email, and paying approx. 60USD with Paypal we can forward it to our house in Argentina. Be careful, choose a private courier, UPS or Fedex, so it arrives quickly and is not intercepted by the Argentine mail. That happens with DHL, since in Germany DHL is state-owned (or so I understand).

Ready to use!
