Introduction
I spent months using Claude Code. I loved it… until in the middle of the sprint it stopped. Between back and forth, I ended up spending more than $500 and the worst thing was not the money: it was being left without a tool when I needed it most.
So I started looking for something to break the daily rhythm: cheaper, more volume and without surprises. In the video I show you the 3 options that work best for me today, plus a bonus that you probably already have and are not taking advantage of.
Why did I look for alternatives?
* Because “service degraded” in the middle of a long refactor breaks your flow.
* Because the usage limit cuts you off right when you're iterating fast.
* Because for daily work I prefer stability and volume rather than intermittent “magic”.
My 3 chosen ones
1) GLM: the price/quality ratio that banks
GLM has been my direct replacement when I need a lot of interaction without looking at the counter. It's cheaper, it gives me a lot more volume and, for code tasks (refactors, completing functions, tests), it works very well.
* What I like:
+ Kinder price and limits that, in practice, let you work without fear of being left out.
+ Responds solidly in Spanish and with long technical prompts.
+ For iterating code over long sessions, it is stable.
* Be careful with:
+ The interface is not the most polished of all.
+ Sometimes it gets “safe” with big changes; It is advisable to ask for specific steps.
* Tip:
+ Use it with prompts limited by file/module and ask for clear diffs to apply with your editor.

2) Kimi: long context without dramas
When I have to chew through large files, extended chat histories, or heavy documentation, I found Kimi consistent. He doesn't let me pay and understands well when I throw him several pieces of information at once.
* What I like:
+ Good handling of long context and following instructions.
+ Ideal for “reading” project + docs + issues and proposing a reasonable plan.
* Be careful with:
+ Sometimes he proposes correct but verbose solutions; ask for the final summarized code.
* Tip:
+ Send him section summaries (for example, “domain”, “infra”, “ui”) and then ask him to integrate everything.
3) Alibaba Cloud (Qwen/DashScope): volume at price that takes care of your pocket
If you don't mind setting up an API and prefer to pay for actual usage, Alibaba Cloud gave me a very good balance for long assisted coding sessions. The Qwen Coder-type models work well, and the cost/volume is competitive.
* What I like:
+ Pay as you go and templates for code that perform on completion and refactoring.
+ Stability: it didn't leave me hanging on days of intense work.
* Be careful with:
+ Requires one touch setup (credentials, endpoint).
* Tip:
+ Connect to your OpenAI API compatible editor/client and switch between models depending on the task (complete functions, generate tests, explain legacy code).

Closing
It's not hatred of Claude Code: when he walks, he walks great. But to work every day I need something that doesn't leave me paying. With these three alternatives and the bonus, I am spending less, I have more volume and it doesn't slow me down.
If you tried any, tell me below how it went. And if you have been complaining about the limits, I swear that the GLM + Kimi + Alibaba Cloud combo will change your week. See you in the comments with the mate next to you.
