The start: Finding the contractor job
You already found that contracting job, you finally made the leap into the void, which gives so much uncertainty, but ultimately you are ready to get paid in USD. Many times, being in Argentina it happens that our first job in USD is through a consulting firm.
What is the Consultant?
It is a company generally run by energized Argentos, who have contacts with foreign companies, and they are the link between the foreign technology company and you. The outside company pays them, and they pay you. Along the way they bite off something, or quite a bit of what they pay you, but you are happy because you receive lettuce instead of crunchy ones.
My journey was like this. My first job in dollars was through a consulting firm. Many times the consulting firm offers to help you put together a collection structure, or at least they guide you.
Payment Options: Which one to choose?
Several names are thrown around, Wise, Payoneer, Paypal, Deel, Utoppia and some even have offers to cash out on Binance or other crypto platforms. Some prepo consultants tell you that we pay in Payoneer or Deel and there is no chance. In my experience, they always gave me freedom, as long as it is a USD account.
I've been doing this for several years now, and I think I have the experience to give some recommendations.
My Recommendation: Payoneer
I think the best way to get started is to choose Payoneer.
* Easy to open, very fast
* It opens with your Argentine document
* Very easy to access the money once you receive your first payment
* The card arrives at the touch.
Payoneer gives you a bank account in USD, and allows you to open “balances” in all currencies. If tomorrow you need to collect in AUD like what happened to me, it's just one click and you can receive a payment. Payoneer also sends you a debit card after your first payment, you can request it, and it is very useful for traveling, and to have your money (through crypto currency).
Why Payoneer?
Other benefits of Payoneer is that the card is international, as mentioned, very useful for travel, you can set limits on it, freeze it from the account, and they send it all over the world. The graphical interface of the website is very good, and the application is quite secure, and very well put together.
However, I see, and always saw, Payoneer as just a first step. For your first payments. I wouldn't have much money accumulated there, because although it is safe, that is, I don't think anything will happen, and it doesn't exchange information with the treasury either, big brother, 4F1P, it is still an app, and they can close your account if you do something wrong (we talked about them later">Open one with my referral and we both win something.
and there is always the risk of it going bankrupt, although this is almost unlikely today.
The next step: A physical bank in the USA
When you already have several salaries there, I would invest in a trip to the USA to open an in-person account in a physical bank there. US banks have insurance of up to $250,000 in case the bank fails, and they give me more confidence. Additionally, some offer you credit cards which is even more useful in terms of security for traveling and renting cars or going to hotels.
